Publication Log

A lightweight record of meaningful site and content updates.

Navigation restructured around a five-category public nav site

Replaced the primary nav (About · Substrate · AI & Provenance · Publication log) with five plain-language content categories, plus Encyclopedia and About: Recovery & Becoming, Meaning & Narrative, Literature & Imagination, Connection & Peer Support, and Substrate & AI. AI & Provenance and the Publication log moved to a secondary utility line on each page rather than the primary nav.

The five categories are informed by an internal editorial ontology, kept separate at Explore the Living System, not exposed as nav vocabulary. Two of the five (Substrate, Connection & Peer Support) currently list two published items each; several posts that would strengthen them are drafted but not yet through human review. Left visible rather than hidden, consistent with this site's practice of showing unfinishedness rather than smoothing over it.

New post content

Published The System That Keeps Forgetting Me, on continuity as a form of care. The post moves from the personal experience of losing the thread in recovery to the structural problem of systems that drop context, and arrives at Substrate as an attempt to build holding at the level of infrastructure.

New post and LLM style guide content site

Published The System I Need Before the System Exists, an experiential account of building Substrate while lacking it. The post describes the orientation and continuity problems that make the need for Substrate legible from the inside.

Added a project-level LLM style guide (STYLE_GUIDE.md) governing voice, claim types, epistemic status, prohibited patterns, and revision permissions for AI-assisted writing on this project. Also added site-wide meta descriptions to all page templates.

Vision update site

Updated the site to reflect the renewed Always Becoming / Substrate vision.

Changes include:

This update prepares the site to serve as a public, human-reviewed surface for AI-assisted and governed publishing work.

First nine posts published content

Nine governed investigations published: eight conceptual inquiries into recovery, peer support, meaning, and becoming; one design inquiry into whether an AI-assisted institution can publish governed inquiry. All produced under Chora grammar and reviewed by an adversarial oracle before release.

One correction issued on 2026-06-14: the post on listening for the shape of meaning was initially misclassified as empirical. A human reader identified the error. The publication was reclassified as conceptual and corrected in place, with the correction preserved in the record.

Correction — 2026-07-11. This entry's count could not be verified against the repository: git history shows only two posts (plus one internal-only item) dated in this window, not nine. Left as originally written above, per this site's own correction policy, pending the author's determination of the true original count.

Site launched site

Always Becoming launched as a public site. Initial structure: home page, posts archive, and individual post pages with Chora provenance footers. Eleventy (11ty) static site generator. Deployed via Cloudflare.
